The last couple of weeks have been rough around here. Of course, there was Hurricane Sandy, and as you know, my beloved city didn't fare well. Somehow our neighborhood managed to miss the worst of it -- we even kept our power -- and we feel very fortunate that we didn't have another crisis to add on top of our existing crises. But it is so heartbreaking to see the coverage of the rest of the city. My heart goes out to all who were affected by this tragedy.
There is also the annoyance of what feels like a very sloooow recovery lately. Still experiencing pain and therefore doctors are adding new medications, and taking away old medications, causing me to feel new, fun (not really) side effects...ugh. Tired of medication and tired of feeling not quite right and am ready for life to feel normal again. Or...I guess my new version of normal, which I can't really envision at this point.
In other, more uplifting news (!!) Miles continues to explode in personality and development. He is walking up a storm, talking up a storm (sometimes we can identify actual words in the stream of chatter), mimicking everything we do. And look -- he can even stack blocks now! Maybe it's because I'm his mom, but I was impressed:

(can't get over how big he looks in this photo)
We were also able to go out for a short walk on Halloween, which I was so happy about. As I've mentioned before, I do love Halloween in the city. This year Miles was able to interact with it all a bit more, and we had the best costume EVER for him :)
We call him our little monkey so it only seemed appropriate.
My dad ordered the costumes, including the ears and a tail for me, AND a banana costume for Dan which he refused to wear in public. He ordered the banana because the picture online made me laugh while I was in in the hospital (it's true, it did). "Look, it makes her laugh!" he said, and clicked Add to Cart :)
And that's the happenings lately, folks. And all I have the energy to type out at the moment. Still planning to type out 'my story'...stay tuned.
