Lecture.

It was another incredible day of class with a special guest lecturer. I am feeling *exceptionally* blessed to be able to sit in on these classes, which are some of the most intriguing and interesting lectures I've ever heard. Today, while the focus was still on leadership since that is the theme of the course, there was also a heavy emphasis on finding your passion...dedicating your work and time and life to something worthy, something of value, something that moves you. It certainly moved me and made me think a lot...still feeling ponderous this evening.

Harvard & (shocking) more snow.

We're up to our eyeballs in snow over here (again) and I am pretty much o-v-e-r it*. But it sure does make for some pretty idyllic scenes, especially around Harvard's campus**.

*storm today. storm tomorrow. blah blah blah.
**I'm trying to sit in on as many classes as I can since we're only here for one more semester. I had high hopes for this morning's human rights class, but it wasn't exactly what I expected. Still, great to be in a classroom setting again (even if I am a bit of an impostor ;)

Tuesday Greetings...

harvard yard & hard t stop, hipstamatic

gray & wet november greetings from harvard square. (surprisingly) i really didn't mind the weather today. something about walking through harvard yard under a moody gray sky, wet & colorful leaves sticking to my shoes as i headed over to the coop to do some work (legal research -- a new job to add to my list-o-jobs)...i don't know, it all just felt very academic and harvard-ly perfect. happy, even. i gotta say, sometimes i kind of dig living here.

ps: oh & i tried yoga for the first time tonight. two thumbs up.

Hipsta-mania & Harvard

trying out my new iphone app in Harvard Square ;)

I've officially jumped on the Hipstamtic app bandwagon. And I like it :)

And in other (more important) news: I attended my first Harvard class today! One of the perks of being the spouse of a Mid-Career/MPA-er is being able to sit in on & audit classes. I've been a tad intimidated to do so up until this point, but a friend of mine (another MPA spouse) invited me to go with her to a Public Narrative class today...so I did. And it was GREAT. Fascinating, thought-provoking, challenging. All that good stuff and more.

And it made me realize what an incredibly unique position we are in right now. Having access to so many interesting opportunities, people, ideas. It really is amazing. And I don't want to sit idly by, missing New York and my old life, while these opportunities are out there, ready for the taking. So I gave myself a stern talking to today (in my head. don't worry I'm not crazy) and decided it was time to jump in. Both feet. Classes, lectures, auditions, friends, LIFE. Let's DO this!

(so, in that vein, tomorrow night I am going to my first Boston theater audition. eek!)

Library adventures.

shots from Widener Library (taken with my new iphone! :)

Our evening took a slight turn since we messed up the time for this event and were essentially locked out and told to leave upon arriving several minutes late (grrr).

So we decided to wander through Harvard Yard and check out the famous Widener Memorial Library*. Which turned out to be a magical little adventure.

Being there reminded me how much I love and miss school. I've always loved the idea of returning to the world of academia one day (for a masters in either fine arts or art therapy. or theology. should probably make up my mind first). I am a little jealous of Dan right now, so immersed in all of these fascinating classes with such fascinating people -- until I see the stack of books he has to read every night, then the jealousy fades a bit.

But it was fun to live vicariously through him tonight as we wandered around this incredibly rich, historical establishment. A magical book-filled adventure.

*read the wikipedia entry on Widener here. pretty fascinating.

A good night (& goodnight).

Harvard Sqaure

It's been a full & lovely evening spent in Harvard Square with Dan's classmates. I am really loving all of the various social outings that are happening through his program and all of the incredible people we are meeting. Looks like it is going to be an incredible year overall...! (that's what everyone keeps telling us anyway :)

Hello, Harvard!

Harvard building

Tonight we took a stroll around campus, which was pretty dreamy. Such a beautiful place. I still can't believe we are here...that we live here.

And now we are watching Love Story (which takes place in Cambridge & New York City), in order to really get into the Harvard spirit :)

(Oh & turns out our new neighbors one block over are (were) those Russian spies that are all over the news. Welcome to the neighborhood!)
